Love chocolates? Your taste buds have been adoring brown bars since childhood. Now it's the time to relish your skin and hair as well with the umber savor of cocoa butter.

What is cocoa butter?

Cocoa butter is a plant-based fat extracted from roasted cocoa beans. It is one of the most hydrating ingredients offered by the nature. With the power of its natural saturated fats and antioxidants, cocoa butter is extensively used in body lotions, face creams, lip balms, and other personal care products.

Cocoa butter for skin

Loaded with the rich power of vitamin A, vitamin E, antioxidants, and fatty acids, cocoa butter is a skincare juggler. It is easily absorbed by the skin without leaving any greasy residue on the surface.

  • It moisturizes dry and damaged skin and prevents it from flaking.
  • It fights free radicals, early signs of aging, and skin irritations (like dermatitis and eczema).
  • It minimizes the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, scars, and stretch marks.
  • Pure cocoa butter acts as a natural makeup remover and remedy for minor burns and rashes.

Cocoa butter for lips

Being a natural source of vitamin E, antioxidants, and an excellent emollient ingredient, it makes a hydrating protective layer on the lips, heals their damaged skin, and prevents them from further drying. It also lightens dark, discolored skin; giving you healthy pink lips.

Cocoa butter for hair

Cocoa butter is a multi-tasker for hair health as well. Apart from nourishing and moisturizing dry, damaged, and flaky scalp, it also enhances hair volume, minimizes hair fall, protects them from chlorinated water and sun damage, strengthens hair shafts, and gives you manageable smooth, shiny hair.

DIY cocoa butter coffee hair mask- cum- conditioner

Is it good to put cocoa butter on your face?

Cocoa butter is not recommended for oily and acne-prone skin as it can clog pores. Nevertheless, it is a completely safe and wonderful ingredient for all other skin types. Even sensitive-skinned people can also use pure and organic cocoa butter. Regular use of this natural saturated fat keeps your skin soft, glowing, & ever-young.

Does cocoa butter help grow eyebrows?

With its rich antioxidant properties, vitamins, and fatty acids, the persistent application of raw cocoa butter helps in growing thicker and longer brows and lashes.

Can cocoa butter grow your hair?

Yes. Cocoa butter, when mixed with other hair strengthening ingredients (like Mahabhringraj hair oil or Kalonji oil), aids in growing hair fastly and controlling hair loss.

Which is better- cocoa butter or Shea butter?

Both butters have almost similar properties and provide rich nutrition to skin and hair. Although Shea butter is slightly better than cocoa butter, it is recommended to blend both magical fats to reap the maximum benefits for skin care and hair care.

Can I put cocoa butter on bald head or aftershave?

Due to its rich moisturizing properties, cocoa butter is an ideal ingredient to put on your bald scalp for a glassy look. You can also use it as a soothing aftershave lotion or to heal any minor cuts on the skin.

How long does it take cocoa butter to work?

Pure plant-based products take a minimum of 4-6 weeks and up to 12 weeks to reflect their effectiveness. As they don’t cause any harm to your skin (unless you are allergic to them), it is always a better idea to pick natural ingredients rather than chemical-based products for your delicate skin and hair.

Bottom line

Research has proved the potential benefits of cocoa for skin, hair, and body. If you are not having oily or acne-prone skin, add cocoa butter to your daily skincare regime for a hydrating, fresh look.
